What is a blog?
A blog is a website that anyone with specific or various views can post and share online with the public.  It's personal information that caters to anything that the "blogger" wants to communicate.  Compared to the  20th century type of news broadcast were a selected few decided what was to be published in the media, Blogging in the 21st century allows anyone to share their thoughts and interest on any topic and others reading the posts can give their comments or feedback.

What is the purpose of a blog?
Blogging can cater to businesses, personal, sports, education, politics, hobbies, world situations, and countless other topics.  There are more than 70 million blog post as we speak and the number keeps adding up.  The purpose is to communicate whatever a person is trying to sale, to inform, advocate for, protest, you name it, you can blog it.

How can you use this in your official capacity?
There are educational blog posts that link to resources that can definitely promote and strengthen teaching and learning.  There is support for teachers, for school counselor, as well as help for administrators.

Give at least two explicit examples of uses.
An example of how a blog is used is taking place in one of the island's high school classroom were teacher and students conduct their assignments and projects online and communication for the class is dependent on the class blog.  Teacher provides feedback on the blog, students engage in discussions, and both work on the class content using the specific blog.  Another example of blog use is following a blog site to receive or download resources to use as an educator.  The resources varies from management tips, sample lessons and activities, to sharing experiences either in the classroom or a related educational field.

What are the benefits and drawbacks of a blog?
Some of the benefits of a blog are to become a published author, obtaining immediate feedback, getting more customers for your business, establishing yourself as an expert in your field, learning in-demand skills, and helping others.  The drawbacks of blogging include diminishing your social life.  So many time is spent or devoted to a blog, one gets lost and loses out on authentic communication with family and friends.  Other drawbacks include, health problems, weak eyesight, and being impatient.  Downside for a blog itself are that some blogs can be biased or contain inaccurate information, people leave inappropriate or rude comments, and it can become a tedious chore to keep update a blog.
